The King of Cricket: Genius Sachin Tendulkar played a lot of memorable innings in his cricketing career. It’s difficult to sum up all his innings in pictures, so here we bring you some of the memorable shots to cherish... |
Sachin Tendulkar was just 17 when he became the second youngest century maker in Tests. And it was a ton which rescued India from defeat and steered them to an honourable draw against England. Tendulkar batted 224 minutes and hit 17 fours.

Sachin Tendulkar versus New Zealand: 82 vs New Zealand at Auckland in 1994. An innings marked by blazing shots all round the wicket is also deserving of a footnote in Indian cricket history for this was the first time that Tendulkar opened the innings in an ODI. |
Sachin Tendulkar versus Australia: Sachin Tendulkar's dazzling 141-ball 175 in the fifth one-dayer against Australia as "one of his best" innings. While orchestrating a stiff chase of 351, Tendulkar looked on course to break the record for the highest individual score in an ODI innings but was undone by a slower ball from debutant Clint McKay in the 48th over, after which India ended four runs short. |
Sachin Tendulkar in Sharjah: On a couple of balmy nights in Sharjah in 1998, Sachin Tendulkar carved out successive scintillating centuries against Australia to convince the men in gold who weren’t believers, he was the best batsman in the world. |
Sachin Tendulkar versus Australia test: Even though India lost by 300 runs, this innings of Tendulkar is rated very high - and rightly so - because of the bouncy surface and the incessant pace barrage that he had to put up with even as his colleagues succumbed meekly. During his stay of 161 balls he hit 16 fours. It was reckoned to be a gem of an innings and over the years hasn’t lost any of its luster.

Sachin Tendulkar versus Pakistan: As only to be expected the India – Pakistan clash generated frenzy worldwide particularly as it was the first clash between the two teams since June 2000. A crammed stadium and a TV audience implausibly guesstimated at a billion watched the tournament’s most talked-up match which lived up to its hype. Tendulkar went on to 98 from 75 balls with 12 fours and a six. India won the match finally. |
Golden moment: Sachin Tendulkar created history by becoming the highest century-getter as India laid the foundation for a mammoth first innings total in the second Test against Sri Lanka at the Feroze Shah Kotla ground in New Delhi. |
Sachin Tendulkar versus Pakistan test: 136 vs Pakistan at Chennai 1999 An innings that has gone down in Indian cricketing folklore. A gallant knock compiled under tremendous pressure on a last day Chepauk pitch in the face of a varied attack – Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and Saqlain Mushtaq – ended up in vain as the support for Tendulkar was woefully inadequate. |
Sachin Tendulkar versus England test: Scoring a hundred in a successful fourth innings run chase was according to Tendulkar himself something he had wanted, the one achievement missing from his CV. Little wonder then that he rated this innings as ``up there’’ and ``one of the best’’ among all his hundreds. And it was no ordinary run chase as India were set a target of 387 – the highest successful attempt in a Test in Asia and the fifth highest in all Tests. |
