Peter Graves dies at 83

Actor Peter Graves, 83, best known for his starring role on TV's 'Mission: Impossible', was found dead on March 14, 2010 at his residence in his Los Angeles Appartments.  (AP/Reed Saxon)
Graves died of an apparent heart attack, about a week shy of his 84th birthday.

From 1960–1961, Graves started as (lead role) Christopher Cobb in 34 episodes of the TV series Whiplash as an American who arrived in Australia in the 1850s to establish the country's first stagecoach line.

Peter won a Golden Globe Award in 1971 for his role as Jim Phelps in the series 'Mission: Impossible'.He also received nominations for Emmy Awards and Golden Globe awards in other seasons of that show.
