Shankar Mahadevan

Shankar Mahadevan is an Indian singer and music composer.

He is a part of the Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy trio team.  (BCCL)
Shankar Mahadevan was born in Chennai in a Tamil family. He grew up in Mumbai and learnt Indian Classical and Carnatic music in his childhood and started playing Veena at the age of five.

Shankar Mahadevan went to OLPS High School in Chembur and graduated with a degree in Electronics Engineering from Mumbai University in 1988.

Though a software engineer by profession and having worked with Oracle Corporation, his interest in music made him venture into the field of music.

He is also the judge for Zee TV's musical reality show 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa'.

Shankar Mahadevan has given songs for many recent hit Bollywood movies like 'Rock On' and 'Taare Zameen Par'.

Shankar was the music director for the famous school song 'Chale Hum' that used to come on Doordarshan. He also was composer of that song.  (BCCL)
In 2005, Shankar Mahadevan won the 'Filmfare Award' for 'Best Music Direction' for the movie 'Bunty Aur Babli'.

Shankar won Star Screen Awards Best Background Music nomination for the film Mission Kashmir, Best Music Direction for film Dil Chahta Hai
