Govinda

Govinda is an award-winning Bollywood actor who was born in Virar, Mumbai on December 21, 1963.

Govinda studied Commerce at Annasahb Vartak college in Vasai, Mumbai. After passing out from college he tried for a job but couldn't seek any opportunities because his English wasn't good enough.

Govinda got his first break in Bollywood from movie 'Tan Badan' which was directed by his uncle, Anand.

Govinda has made his fans laugh with his performance in comedy films like 'Shola Aur Shabnam', 'Aankhen' and 'Coolie No.1'. He also received a lot of fame and name from his movies.

In 2004, Govinda entered politics by joining the Congress party. He was elected to Lok Sabha, the lower House of Parliament from Mumbai.

Having lost weight, Govinda is looking younger and fresher. Having put the lows behind, Govinda is now excited at the interesting mix of films he has – from a comedy like Do Knot Disturb... to a drama like Mani Ratnam’s Raavana.  (BCCL/Yogen Shah)
